Protests on your left, protests on your right. The Montreal protesters should take a page from Kanye and Jay-Z’s book and get some crazy rave lasers and an elephant to spice up the protests over here.
The Throne returns with this intense video directed by Romain Gavras for “No Church in the Wild” off their epic album “Watch the Throne” (Watch the Throne Part 2 is apparently in the making!) which is perhaps a tribute to TIME Magazine’s person of the year: The Protester.
At the second edition of the Montreal Hip Hop Awards this past weekend, a special tribute was given in honor of our good friend and industry leader, Matt Dutch Garner, founder of EscapeMTL, a respected concert promoter and talent manager. Following the moving tribute came a standing ovation, showing the love and respect of his peers and friends.
Nearly six months after he was tragically killed, his murder remains unsolved. His legacy continues to inspire the community to come together more than ever before, including a number of positive events to celebrate his life, and a continuous outpouring of loving messages on his Facebook page wall.
We wish to thank everyone for their unwavering support of his family and friends, and for keeping his dream, his passion, and his vision alive. We would also like to thank Success Clothing for the Dutch hoodie project, The Narcissist and Concordia University for the Slang Rap Democracy summit, Nick Fury of K103.7FM Radio for his unwavering support of the local hip hop scene, Labnoise for creating the video, and all of the local and international artists who have expressed their love and support and have paid tribute to him through their music and videos.
This video is a testament to the positive things his friends and industry peers have been doing since he left us. We ask that you please share this video in honour of Matt Dutch Garner and everything he stood for. We must continue to spread messages against violence and hate in an effort to prevent the loss of anyone else within our community, and beyond.

Rihanna, who released the video for her new single Where Have You Been? at the end of April, posted some behind the scenes photos and video on her Facebook page. If she was wearing this in her upcoming movie Battleship, we might consider going to see it.
Check her Facebook page for all the pics, or check out more pics and the video after the jump!
