You may have heard that last week the hosts of Masters at Work, Ken Dawg and Mike Mission has some words for some of the noisemakers in the city right now basically calling us “suckers” without having the balls to actually call out any names. Well one week later the artists in question dubbed “Team New Money” stopped by CKUT for this classic audio, and to give them their 2 cents and honestly put Ken Dawg in his place.
Just to prove that we are not being bias, to hear the full rant from Masters at Work from last Saturday night you can check that here. The audio in question takes place in the last 10 minutes of the 2 hours so download to listen and you won’t have to waste your time with the whole 2 hours.
Masters at Work – Saturday August 14
In my opinion our town is too small for all this hate, and just because new comers are trying to put our city on the map it doesn’t mean we don’t have respect for our elders. Point is, Masters at Work has been around for years but all good things come to an end. Move over and let the new generation take the reigns because it’s a new day. Moral of the story is, respect upcoming talent and don’t just say you support your local artists when you actually don’t. It’s about time we are moving in the right direction, with or without our elders. We have tons of talent in Montreal making some of the best music this city has ever seen, and the buzz right now is the highest it has been in years. Just because you missed your chance and have fallen out of the picture, don’t try and hold back the movement. Support your local talent… Masters at Work retirement party coming soon…
Huge respect to Magnum, Dirtwork, I.Blast, Nov, Pay$o, Boy6lue and everyone else who took their time to go to CKUT this evening and make their voices heard. Shouts to Elon Skee for getting this audio cut up and on YouTube with the quickness… you can check part 2 after the jump.

If you look up the words “hard work” and “dedication” in the dictionary they should show you this above picture of Luca “Lazylegs” Patuelli. For a man born with a rare muscle disorder named Arthrogryposis he never once has shown any signs of actual disability in his craft, and always remained inspiring for anyone out there who ever thinks of giving up. Last night they aired his performance on So You Think You Can Dance Canada which earned him a spot in the finals in Toronto, so expect to see some more from him in the near future as he moves on to the finals.
Not to mention in Orlando, Florida this past week Lazylegs broke a personal record by walking 1KM for charity… without crutches mind you. See the video below and be inspired…

You can’t deny the fact that Wyclef puts on for his country way more than most, but is a musician President of a country that desperately needs to rebuild what they really need? Not to say that he wouldn’t be a good leader, but Haiti needs a lot more than music right now. None the less ‘Clef likely will be a shoe in considering the amount of love he gets in Haiti. Once a Fugee, soon to be President… hows that for an accomplishment.

NDG OFF THE WALL / HORS DES MURS is a free outdoor film and video screening which is a part of the upcoming three-day NDG Arts Weekend. This film screening will celebrate local film talent as well as local media creativity in NDG. The videos must showcase some aspect of life in NDG or simply be created with significant input from someone in NDG.
It will be held on Friday August 27th, 2010 at 8:00pm in NDG Park. The films will be projected onto a large screen in the southwest corner near Marcil and Sherbrooke St., with the audience assembled on the hill that runs towards the chalet. The images will also be bounced off the exterior wall of the Empress Building (Cinema V) as a show of support for the use of that building as a local arts and culture centre.
Submissions for the screening are still welcome and encouraged. Those wishing to participate should contact organizer John McKay at jmckay@videotron.ca as soon as possible.
The NDG ARTS WEEKEND also consists of an outdoor arts fair on Sherbrooke St. on Saturday August 28th and free live music in NDG Park on Sunday August 29th offered by Country en Ville. Organizers are hoping that this will become an annual event.
